A recent recipient of a Research Enabling Grant from UNT will allow her to pursue her research in Vienna, Austria followed by a solo exhibition at the Manfred Flener Gallery in Vienna. Her recent solo shows include “An Accumulation of Nothing” at Sternstudios, Vienna; “Recursion” at the Hunt Gallery in St. Louis, Mo.; “The Antigua Series” at Space B in New York City;  “Thick and Smooth” at the Bruno David Gallery in St. Louis; “Velocity/Volition” at the Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art Gallery in Kansas City, Mo.; and “Flutter and Yaw” at Perimeter Gallery in Chicago. Her work also is featured in “Studio Visit Magazine,” an international exhibit in print. 

Beard is the President of the Santo Foundation, a non-profit organization established to assist artists with individual grants. She maintains a studio in St. Louis and a studio in Denton, Texas.  Beard received her M.F.A. in painting from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1990 and her B.F.A. in painting and printmaking from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colo. in 1988. Her work is in private and public collections both regionally and abroad.
