About

Black has taught core drawing and figure drawing at UNT since 2003. She was a Sol Lewitt mural project crew member at DFW airport. She created an original mural in the permanent collection of the Texas Forestry Museum in Lufkin, Texas. She has also taught workshops at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, been a staff member at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, and shown her work in exhibitions throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

Summer 2024: Valles Caldera National Preserve, Jemez Springs, New Mexico, has selected Rachel Black, principal lecturer, as one of five artists for its inaugural artist-in-residence program during the 2024 summer season. During her residency, Black will apply design thinking to learn more about how art can function as a stewardship method.
