Binod Shrestha, associate professor of studio art, is the inaugural director of the studio-based Foundations Program. His role is to support and lead the program, ensure that the program is serving all majors in the college, and work with the Foundations' communities in the state of Texas and beyond.

Shrestha comes to CVAD from the University of Wisconsin — LaCrosse, LaCrosse, Wis., where he was associate professor, foundations coordinator and active in the arena of art foundations pedagogy. An artist who works across media, Shrestha holds M.F.A. degrees from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, Penn., and Bangalore University, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Shrestha has described his work as exploring the possibilities and upshot of myths, memory and metaphor — 3Ms, on the body and as "probing politics and its implication on the body in socio-politic and metaphysical context at the micro-level.
