The College of Visual Arts and Design is considered one of the nation's best and most comprehensive visual arts schools. Our programs include a nationally ranked graduate fine arts program, a graphic design program ranked first in the Southwest and the state’s only Ph.D. in art education.

As one of the nation’s most comprehensive visual arts schools, CVAD offers 16 undergraduate and 13 graduate degree programs, a graduate certificate program and concentrations in areas ranging from Art History to Communication Design to Photography, including eight programs with minor fields of study. Through effective teaching, CVAD faculty help students achieve excellence in their individual, artistic, and career goals. After a recent renovation and expansion, CVAD's new 238,000-square-foot complex sets a new standard for state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and scholarship in studio art, design, art education, art history and interdisciplinary art and design studies.

Here at CVAD, our mission is to challenge students to complete difficult assignments, take ownership of what they create, and give back to their creative communities by producing and sharing their best work. Learning to think and work in these ways has also helped CVAD graduates secure and sustain careers in their respective disciplines for the past half-century and continues through today.
