About

Binod Shrestha, professor of studio art, is the inaugural director of the studio-based Foundations program. His role is to support and lead the program, ensure that the program is serving all majors in the college, and work with the Foundations' communities in Texas and beyond.

Shrestha came to CVAD from the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse, LaCrosse, Wisconsin, where he was associate professor, foundations coordinator and active in art foundations pedagogy.

Shrestha is an artist who works across media and holds M.F.A. degrees from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Bangalore University, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Shrestha has described his work as exploring the possibilities and upshot of myths, memory and metaphor — 3Ms, on the body and as "probing politics and its implication on the body in socio-politic and metaphysical context at the micro-level.

2023

April: Recipient of the Foundations in Art: Theory and Education's 2023 Master Educator Award at the FATE 2023 Conference, April 13, at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, Denver, Colo. Shrestha also was elected as the 2023–2025 FATE vice president of development.

March: Elected as a member of the National Arts Administrators Association, NCAA, Board of Directors.
