erin donahoe-rankin [preferred capitalization] joined the College of Visual Arts and Design as director of advising in 2018. During her 20+ years in higher education, she was previously the director of students for the Utah State University-Tooele Regional Campus, Tooele, Utah, an academic advisor for philosophy and humanities, and many other programs across the UVU College of Humanities and Social Sciences. She also taught philosophy, anthropology, and communication courses as an adjunct faculty member at UVU.
A member of NACADA, the Global Community for Academic Advising since 2007, she has served in many roles and is now the Membership Recruitment and Retention Committee Chair. She has co-authored chapters in “Advising Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer College Students” (Eds. McGill & Joslin, 2021) and “Scholarly Inquiry in Academic Advising, Second Edition” (Eds. McGill, Gizerian, & Hagen, 2022).
Erin earned baccalaureate degrees in philosophy and integrated studies: history and religious studies from Utah Valley University and a master’s in academic advising from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas. She is (slowly) working on a Ph.D. in Philosophy at UNT. She is supported by and deeply grateful for her family’s support through all the above.
