About Kevin

Kevin is originally from Seagoville, Texas, and completed a B.F.A. in Studio Art with a concentration in Printmaking and an M.Ed. in Higher Education with an emphasis in student affairs here at UNT. Throughout his time here as a student, he was involved in housing and residence life as a resident assistant. After graduation, he worked as a CVAD academic advisor before joining the college recruiter and community development position.

The College of Visual Arts and Design at UNT in Denton is critical in building our region into a world-renowned center for culture and education. CVAD fosters creative futures for its diverse student population and the area through rigorous arts-based education, arts- and client-based studio practice, scholarship and research.

UNT awarded 1,793 bachelor’s degrees for first majors to Hispanic students in 2019, earning it No. 30 in the nation, and 276 master’s degrees, landing it at 56. As the home of the top-ranking College of Visual Arts and Design, College of Liberal Arts and Science (for Dance and Theatre) and College of Music, UNT came in at No. 10 in the U.S. for visual and performing arts degrees earned by Hispanic students. A total enrollment of Hispanic students in 2018-19 placed UNT at No. 44 among four-year schools.

One of the Nation's Top Hispanic-Serving Institutions

The University of North Texas earned multiple rankings in The Hispanic Outlook on Education Magazine’s “Top 100 Colleges and Universities for Hispanics” lists for the number of Hispanic students enrolled and the total number of degrees earned.

As the home of top-ranking College of Visual Arts and Design and College of Music, UNT came in at No. 10 in the U.S. for visual and performing arts degrees earned by Hispanic students. A total enrollment of Hispanic students in 2018-19 placed UNT at No. 44 among four-year schools.

In Fall 2021, UNT enrolled more than 10,000 Hispanic students, a 6.6% increase over last year. With its growing Hispanic student population, this year, UNT also became one of only 16 Tier One research universities designated a Hispanic-Serving Institution. Being an HSI enables the university to receive additional federal funds to support and expand programs for Hispanic students.
